Transmission Mounts

Transmission mounts support the rear of the engine and gearbox assembly and isolate vibration from the chassis. Rubber deteriorates with heat, oil leaks and age; worn mounts cause clunks, gear lever movement and driveline vibration.

Mounts may be simple rubber-and-steel isolators, bracketed assemblies or hydraulic units on some vehicles. Specify by OEM number, transmission type (manual or automatic, 2WD or 4WD), stud positions and thread sizes, and overall height. Mounts are often replaced with engine mounts, because a failed transmission mount increases load on the engine mounts and vice versa.
