Private Label Auto Parts

Private label options for selected automotive parts categories, subject to confirmed supplier capability per category. Learn how branding, packaging, minimum quantities and trademark ownership work.

Distributors who build their own brand can often improve margins and customer loyalty. Private label means parts are supplied in packaging carrying your brand rather than the manufacturer's. This page explains which categories may be possible, how the process works and what responsibilities sit with the buyer.

Pending verification: Private label availability is subject to confirmed supplier capability per category. Categories listed below are possibilities to discuss, not confirmed programs. Confirmed categories, minimum quantities and sample lead times will be published once verified.

Possible product lines

Subject to confirmed supplier capability per category, private label may be possible for:

  • Filters: oil, air, fuel and cabin filters
  • Brake components: brake pads, brake shoes and related components
  • Suspension: selected shock absorbers, bushings and suspension rubber parts
  • Rubber parts: mountings, boots, seals and hoses
  • Cooling: selected radiator hoses, water pumps and related parts
  • Wipers: wiper blades
  • Selected accessories for pickups and 4x4 vehicles

Private label is generally not offered for OEM genuine parts, which are supplied only in the vehicle manufacturer's branding. For other categories, feasibility depends on each manufacturer's willingness to pack under a third-party brand, their minimum runs and your market requirements.

How the process works

1. Define the range

Share the categories, part numbers or vehicle applications you want under your brand, with estimated annual volumes. Starting with a focused range of fast-moving lines is usually more practical than an entire catalog.

2. Feasibility and supplier options

We confirm which manufacturers can supply each category under a private label, the quality tier and specifications available, and indicative minimum quantities. You receive a proposal showing what is and is not feasible.

3. Samples

Where a supplier provides them, samples of the product can be requested for evaluation. Sample costs and shipping are normally for the buyer's account unless otherwise agreed.

4. Packaging and branding design

You supply artwork, or brief a designer, based on the packaging specifications provided by the manufacturer:

  • Box dimensions, material and print method
  • Label content: your brand, part number, application, barcode, country of origin and any legally required information for your market
  • Your part numbering system, if different from the manufacturer's
  • Language requirements for the destination market

Printed proofs or digital proofs are approved in writing before production.

5. Production and packing

Packaging is produced and parts are packed under your brand. Lead times depend on packaging production and supplier schedules and are confirmed per order.

6. Quality control and shipment

Private label orders go through the same quality control checks as other orders, including label verification against approved artwork. They can be shipped alone or in a mixed container.

Minimum order quantities

Minimums depend on the product and supplier, and are typically driven by two factors:

  • Product minimums: the manufacturer's production or packing run for each part number
  • Packaging minimums: the print run for boxes and labels, which can be higher than product needs for slow-moving lines

Using a common box design across part numbers, with variable information on a label, can reduce packaging minimums.

Trademarks and intellectual property

The buyer is responsible for:

  • Owning or having rights to the brand used on the packaging, and registering it in the markets where it will be sold
  • Ensuring artwork does not infringe third-party trademarks, including vehicle manufacturer logos and brand names
  • Ensuring product descriptions and fitment claims comply with the laws of the destination market

Vehicle manufacturer names may generally only be used descriptively to indicate fitment, for example "fits Toyota Hilux", and even then subject to local law. We may decline artwork that appears to use another party's trademark without authorization.

Market compliance

Some markets require product registration, conformity marks or specific labeling for brake parts, filters or other components. Identify these requirements early so that suppliers with suitable documentation can be selected.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns the brand on private label packaging?

The buyer. You are responsible for owning or licensing the trademark and registering it where required, and for ensuring artwork does not infringe other parties' rights.

Can I get OEM genuine parts in my own packaging?

No. OEM genuine parts are supplied in the vehicle manufacturer's branding. Private label is considered for OES and aftermarket categories where suppliers confirm capability.

What drives minimum quantities for private label?

Product production or packing runs and packaging print runs. Both vary by supplier and product, so minimums are confirmed per category in the feasibility proposal.
