Vehicle & Truck Parts Supply for Ghana

Japanese pickup, SUV, bus and truck parts, batteries and tires from Thailand for Ghanaian importers and distributors, shipped to Tema or Takoradi with full export documentation.

Ghana's vehicle market

Ghana's vehicle parc is built largely on imported used vehicles, together with a smaller new-vehicle segment serving companies, government and mining operators. Toyota is a leading brand across passenger cars, SUVs and pickups, and the Hilux is a common workhorse for businesses, the public sector and mining and agricultural projects. Minibuses known locally as trotros, many based on the Toyota HiAce and similar vans, are central to everyday passenger transport. Light and medium trucks carry goods from Tema to Kumasi and the northern regions.

Ghana does not permit right-hand-drive vehicles to be registered for road use, so the parc is left-hand drive. Suppliers and importers should keep this in mind when handling side-specific parts.

Right-hand-drive sourcing, left-hand-drive vehicles

Thailand's domestic vehicles are right-hand drive, but drive side only matters for certain parts. Engine parts, filters, brake pads, shoes and discs, wheel bearings, belts, clutch components and most suspension parts are shared between left- and right-hand-drive versions of the same model and engine. Steering racks and boxes, headlamps, mirrors, wiper linkages, dashboard components and some body panels are side-specific; order these with the left-hand-drive OEM reference.

Categories relevant to Ghana

  • Suspension and steering: shock absorbers, bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends for vehicles on mixed paved and unpaved roads, including feeder roads in cocoa-growing and mining areas.
  • Filters: air filters for dusty dry-season harmattan conditions and fuel filters for diesel pickups, buses and trucks.
  • Brakes: pads, shoes and drums for heavily loaded minibuses and light trucks.
  • Batteries: heat reduces battery life, making replacement batteries a steady line.
  • Truck parts for Isuzu, Hino and Fuso trucks in haulage and construction; see truck parts.

Ports

  • Tema: Ghana's main container port, near Accra, with a transit role for landlocked Burkina Faso and other Sahel markets.
  • Takoradi: in the Western Region, serving mining, oil and gas and the western part of the country.

Buyers in Kumasi and further north typically clear at Tema and move goods inland by road.

Documentation and clearance

We supply the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin for each shipment. Ghanaian customs procedures are handled through the national single window, and certain products may be subject to standards requirements from the Ghana Standards Authority. Buyers should confirm the current requirements with their clearing agent before we finalize documents, and tell us if any specific labeling or declaration is needed.

Consolidation and Incoterms

Ghanaian distributors frequently mix fast-moving parts for several vehicle types in one container, for example trotro service parts, pickup suspension parts and batteries. A 20' container suits smaller, heavier mixed loads, while a 40' or 40' high-cube is more economical when volume is high. See our mixed-container service for how mixed orders are packed and documented.

We can quote FOB Thailand, CFR or CIF Tema or Takoradi, or EXW and FCA for buyers who manage their own logistics.

Requesting a quote

Send a spreadsheet of OEM numbers and quantities, a model list, or photos of sample parts through RFQ upload, or fill in the RFQ form. RFQs can be submitted in English. Please state that the vehicles are left-hand drive when requesting steering, lighting or body parts.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy right-hand-drive body and lighting parts for Ghana?

Vehicles registered in Ghana are left-hand drive, so right-hand-drive steering, lamps, mirrors and similar parts are generally not suitable. Order these in LHD versions using the OEM reference.

Should I ship to Tema or Takoradi?

Tema is the main container gateway and suits Accra, Kumasi and northern Ghana. Takoradi is closer to the Western Region's mining and energy operations. We can quote to either port.
