Cylinder Head Components

Cylinder head components are the core of valve jobs and head rebuilds. They include intake and exhaust valves, valve guides, valve seat inserts, springs, retainers and collets, as well as bare or complete cylinder heads.

Exhaust valves in turbo-diesel engines operate at high temperature and may use heat-resistant alloys or special coatings. Valves are specified by head diameter, stem diameter, overall length and seat angle. Guides and seats come in standard and oversize outer diameters. Complete heads should state whether valves, springs and camshafts are included, and whether injector sleeves or glow plugs are fitted. Heads are heavy and valuable and should be crated.
