About King Pin Kits

King pins connect the steering knuckles to the front beam axle on most trucks and many older 4x4s and light commercial vehicles. They carry the vehicle's front axle load while allowing the wheels to steer. Worn king pins and bushings cause steering wander, shimmy, uneven tire wear and poor braking stability.

Do king pin kits cover both sides of the axle?

Most kits cover one complete axle, both sides, but some are sold per side. Confirm the kit contents and quantity before ordering.

Do bronze king pin bushings need reaming?

Many bronze bushings must be reamed or honed after pressing to achieve correct clearance. Some kits use pre-sized bushings that do not require reaming. Check the kit specification.

How often should king pins be greased?

Follow the manufacturer's schedule, and more often in dusty or wet conditions. Regular greasing is the single most effective way to extend king pin life.
