About Tie Rod Ends

Tie rod ends connect the steering system to the wheel knuckles and transmit steering movement while allowing suspension travel. Worn tie rod ends cause steering play, wandering, uneven tire wear and misalignment, and they are one of the most frequently replaced steering parts on pickups used on rough roads.

Are left and right tie rod ends the same?

Sometimes, but many vehicles use opposite thread directions or different shapes for each side. Always check the OEM reference per side.

Is alignment needed after replacing tie rod ends?

Yes. Tie rod length sets toe alignment. Even careful measurement during fitting does not replace a proper alignment check.
