About Struts & Strut Assemblies

Struts combine the shock absorber with a structural role in the suspension, usually carrying a coil spring and upper mount. They are common on passenger cars, crossovers and many SUVs, and on the front of some vans.

Replacement options include bare strut inserts, loaded (complete) strut assemblies with spring, top mount and bearing, and strut mount kits. Complete assemblies reduce labor and the risk of spring compressor accidents but take more carton volume. Front struts are often left- and right-specific because of knuckle bracket positions. Specify by OEM number, position and side, and include spring rate or load variant where the vehicle offered heavy-duty options. Pair with shock absorbers for mixed fleets.
