Thrust Washers

Thrust washers control crankshaft end float, absorbing axial loads from clutch operation and helical gears. Wear allows excessive end float, which can damage the block, crankshaft and flywheel sensor timing.

Thrust washers are supplied as half-moon washers in standard and oversize thicknesses, or integrated into flanged main bearings. Specify by engine code, thickness and quantity (upper only, or upper and lower). Heavy clutch use on manual work vehicles, riding the clutch pedal and incorrect clutch adjustment increase thrust wear. Thrust washers are usually included in main bearing sets but not always.
