Idler Arms

Idler arms support the center link or relay rod on the passenger side of recirculating-ball steering systems, mirroring the pitman arm on the gearbox side. They wear at the pivot bushing or bearing, causing steering play and wandering.

This steering layout is found on older generations of pickups and SUVs and on some commercial variants, which remain common in many export markets. Specify by OEM number, bracket design, stud taper and thread, and whether the arm uses a bushing or bearing pivot. LHD and RHD vehicles mount the idler arm on opposite sides and may use different parts. Related: pitman arms and center links.
