How do I know whether a truck uses a 12V or 24V system?

Check the battery configuration and the vehicle specification. Two 12V batteries connected in series indicate 24V. Many medium and heavy trucks use 24V, while some light trucks use either system depending on market and version.

Why can a sensor that looks identical cause fault codes?

Sensors with the same housing and connector can have different signal types, resistance values or calibration. The ECU expects a specific signal, so the OEM reference must be matched, not just the appearance.

Are remanufactured starters and alternators a good option for export?

They can be cost-effective, but core return programs are difficult across borders. Many importers prefer new units or supply local rebuilders with components.
