Vehicle Parts Wholesale Supply for Uganda
Supply of right-hand-drive minibus, pickup and truck parts, motorcycle parts, batteries and tires from Thailand to Ugandan importers, routed via Mombasa or Dar es Salaam.
Uganda's vehicle market
Uganda is landlocked and drives on the left, and its vehicle parc is made up largely of right-hand-drive used imports, most of them Japanese. Kampala is the center of parts wholesale, supplying workshops across the country and traders from neighboring South Sudan and eastern DR Congo, both of which drive on the right.
Key vehicle segments include:
- Taxis: the minibus taxis that carry much of Uganda's urban and intercity passenger traffic are predominantly Toyota HiAce vans.
- Boda bodas: motorcycle taxis are extremely common, making motorcycle parts such as brake shoes, chains and sprockets, cables, filters and electrical parts a high-volume category.
- Trucks: Isuzu, Fuso and Hino trucks carry goods from the coast, as well as agricultural produce and construction materials within the country.
- Pickups and SUVs: Toyota Hilux and other pickups are used by businesses, farms and government, and 4x4 SUVs are common among NGOs and tour operators.
Right-hand drive: a close match with Thai supply
Uganda's right-hand-drive parc matches Thailand's domestic vehicles, so side-specific parts such as steering racks and boxes, headlamps, mirrors, wiper linkages, dashboard components and some body panels can often be sourced in the correct orientation. Service parts including filters, brakes, bearings, belts and engine components are drive-side independent. Because much of the parc comes from the Japanese domestic market, confirm fitment by chassis code or OEM number rather than assuming Thai-market specifications are identical.
Traders who re-export to South Sudan or DR Congo should order left-hand-drive versions of side-specific parts for those customers.
Categories for Ugandan conditions
- Brakes and suspension and steering for heavily loaded taxis and trucks on busy urban roads, murram roads and hilly terrain.
- Filters: air filters for dusty unpaved roads and diesel fuel filters.
- Truck components for Isuzu light trucks; see Isuzu NPR truck parts.
- Batteries, tires and electrical parts for vehicles in heavy daily use.
Routes: Northern and Central Corridors
As a landlocked country, Uganda receives sea freight through neighboring ports:
- Via Mombasa (Northern Corridor): the most common route, with cargo moved by road or rail through Kenya to Kampala or inland container depots.
- Via Dar es Salaam (Central Corridor): an alternative route through Tanzania, including road and lake-based options.
The bill of lading should show the correct consignee and final destination, and transit arrangements through Kenya or Tanzania are handled by the buyer's clearing and forwarding agent. We can quote CFR or CIF to Mombasa or Dar es Salaam; inland delivery is normally arranged by the buyer.
UNBS PVoC and documentation
The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) operates a Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) program for regulated products, which can include vehicle parts, batteries and tires. Buyers should confirm current requirements with their clearing agent and advise us at the RFQ stage so verification can take place before loading.
Standard documents supplied: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin.
Consolidation and ordering
Ugandan buyers often combine taxi, truck and boda boda parts with batteries and tires in one container, which helps spread the cost of the sea and inland legs. Our mixed-container service supports this with line-by-line packing lists. Terms available: FOB, CFR, CIF, EXW or FCA.
To request a quotation, send your list through RFQ upload, stating the preferred port of entry (Mombasa or Dar es Salaam). RFQs can be submitted in English.

Frequently asked questions
Which port should I use for a shipment to Kampala?
Most Uganda-bound cargo moves through Mombasa on the Northern Corridor, with Dar es Salaam as an alternative. The better choice depends on your forwarder's inland arrangements; we can quote CFR or CIF to either port.
Do you supply boda boda motorcycle parts along with vehicle parts?
Yes. Motorcycle parts can be consolidated with vehicle parts, batteries and tires in the same container. Provide the motorcycle models and part numbers or photos with your RFQ.
