Control Cables

Control cables transmit rider inputs to the throttle, clutch, brakes, choke and speedometer. They wear, stretch and corrode, particularly in wet climates and on motorcycles parked outdoors, and a sticking throttle or broken brake cable is a safety issue.

Cables are specified by model code, overall length, inner cable length and adjustment range, and end fittings at each end. Some throttle systems use dual push-pull cables. Quality points include inner cable strand construction, liner material for smooth operation and weatherproof end seals. Cables should be coiled loosely in packaging to avoid kinks.
