Drive chains and sprockets transfer power to the rear wheel on manual and semi-automatic motorcycles. They are among the fastest-moving motorcycle wear parts, particularly in dusty and wet conditions and on motorcycles carrying heavy loads.

Chains are identified by pitch size codes such as 415, 420, 428, 520, 525 and 530, and by link count. Types include standard roller chains, heavy-duty chains and sealed O-ring or X-ring chains with longer life. Sprockets are specified by chain size, tooth count, bore or spline and bolt pattern.
