About truck & bus filters

Truck and bus filters follow the same principles as light-vehicle filters but at larger size, higher flow rates and with more stages. Service intervals are tied to hours or distance under load, and fleets in developing markets often shorten intervals because of dust, overloading and fuel quality.

Filter groups

  • Full-flow and bypass oil filters – many truck engines use a large full-flow filter plus a bypass filter for fine particles. Some use cartridge elements in a combined housing.
  • Fuel filters – primary separators and secondary fine filters; some engines use a pre-filter at the chassis and a main filter on the engine.
  • Air cleaner elements – round or radial-seal primary elements with inner safety elements.
  • Coolant filters – on some heavy-duty engines, containing chemical additives.
  • Air dryer cartridges – for air brake systems, covered with air brake components in the truck components range.

Applications

Medium-duty trucks such as the Hino 500 with the J08E engine and light trucks such as the Isuzu NPR with the 4HK1 engine are widespread in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Each engine family has its own filter set, and body or chassis variants may change air cleaner layout. Buses frequently use the same engine families with different intake configurations.

Handling

Truck filters are heavier per unit and come in smaller carton quantities. Large air elements take up substantial container volume, so plan them early in load calculations. See truck parts for model-based ranges.

Buying & specification guide

  • OEM number plus engine code (for example J08E, 4HK1, 6HK1) and chassis model. Truck variants for different markets can use different filter systems.
  • Identify each stage: full-flow vs bypass oil filter, primary vs secondary fuel filter, primary vs safety air element.
  • Service kits by engine family reduce ordering errors for fleet customers.
  • Dimensions and threads should be confirmed on unusual or older references.
  • Carton data: request unit weight, carton quantity and carton dimensions. Truck air elements can dominate volume in a mixed container.
  • Fleet profiles: ask your fleet customers for their vehicle list by chassis and engine. Building stock around the actual trucks in service is far more efficient than stocking broad catalogue coverage.
  • Protection in transit: large round elements should be packed with end-cap protection so seals are not deformed when cartons are stacked.
  • Related lines: air dryer cartridges, coolant filters and hydraulic filters for body equipment are often requested in the same order by the same fleet workshop.

Export supply

Truck & Bus Filters can be quoted on FOB, CFR, CIF, FCA or EXW terms and combined with other product groups in a single consolidated container. Send part numbers, quantities and destination port for a validated quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Do truck filter sets differ between chassis variants with the same engine?

Oil and fuel filters are usually engine-specific, but air cleaner elements and pre-filters can vary with chassis, cab and market configuration. Include the chassis model with each enquiry.

What is a bypass oil filter?

A secondary filter that cleans a small portion of oil flow to a finer level than the full-flow filter. It is fitted on many heavy-duty diesel engines and must be replaced along with the main filter.
