About windshields
Windshields are laminated safety glass: two layers of glass bonded with a PVB interlayer that holds fragments together on impact. They are frequently replaced after stone chips grow into cracks, a common problem on gravel roads and behind trucks.
Specify by model generation, cab type for trucks, tint and shade band, and equipment: rain and light sensor brackets, camera brackets for driver assistance systems, heated wiper park areas, acoustic interlayer, antenna and HUD compatibility. Truck windshields for cab-over models are large and heavy. Certification marks required by the destination market must be confirmed. Windshields ship in racks or crates with edge protection.
