Automotive & Truck Parts Supply for Iraq

Supply of pickup, SUV, passenger car and truck parts, batteries and tires from Thailand to Iraqi importers, shipped to Umm Qasr, with documentation for COSQC conformity requirements.

Iraq's vehicle market

Iraq has a large, diverse vehicle parc serving a population of more than 40 million. The country drives on the right, and vehicles are left-hand drive. The parc mixes new vehicles with many imported used vehicles, including GCC-specification and North American-specification cars, SUVs and pickups. Toyota is widely represented, with the Hilux, Land Cruiser and Corolla prominent, alongside Korean, Chinese, American and other brands.

Commercial demand comes from reconstruction and construction, agriculture, oil-sector services, and distribution. Pickups, vans and light and medium trucks, including Isuzu, Hino and Fuso models, are used extensively, and minibuses carry passengers within and between cities.

With such a varied parc, identifying the exact vehicle specification is essential. A Hilux or Corolla imported from North America, the GCC or elsewhere may use different parts from a Thai-built version, so VINs or OEM numbers should accompany every order line.

Drive side and parts selection

Thailand's domestic vehicles are right-hand drive. For Iraq's left-hand-drive parc, filters, brake parts, bearings, belts, clutch kits and most engine parts can be supplied by model and engine. Steering racks, lamps, mirrors, wiper linkages, dashboard components and some body panels must be left-hand-drive versions.

Conditions and categories

  • Heat: very high summer temperatures in central and southern Iraq drive demand for batteries and cooling components.
  • Dust: frequent dust storms make filters, particularly air filters, a high-turnover category.
  • Road conditions: varying road quality increases wear on suspension and steering parts and brakes.
  • Commercial fleets: truck service parts for Isuzu, Hino and Fuso; see Isuzu NPR truck parts.
  • Fuel quality: diesel fuel filters and water separators protect engines where fuel quality is inconsistent.

Ports and routes

  • Umm Qasr: Iraq's main commercial seaport, near Basra, with North and South port areas handling most containerized imports.
  • Overland routes: some cargo, particularly for northern Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, is moved by road through neighboring countries, for example after discharge at ports in Turkey.

The best routing depends on the final destination within Iraq and the buyer's forwarder. We can quote CFR or CIF Umm Qasr, or FOB Thailand for buyers arranging multimodal transport.

COSQC conformity and documentation

Iraq requires many imported goods to demonstrate conformity with Iraqi standards through the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) program, typically evidenced by a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) issued after pre-shipment verification by an approved inspection body. The Kurdistan Region may apply its own procedures. Requirements and scope change, so buyers should confirm current requirements with their clearing agent before we finalize the order, so any inspection can be arranged before loading.

We supply the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin. Tell us if your clearing agent requires legalized documents or specific invoice details.

Language and currency

Arabic is the main official language, with Kurdish also official, particularly in the Kurdistan Region. The currency is the Iraqi dinar (IQD), and import transactions are commonly quoted in USD. RFQs can be submitted in English.

Ordering

Iraqi importers frequently combine parts for many vehicle makes, as well as batteries and tires, in a single container. Our mixed-container service handles this. Send your list via RFQ upload, noting the final destination city and whether a CoC is required.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Certificate of Conformity required for auto parts shipped to Iraq?

Many imported products must show conformity with Iraqi standards, typically through a CoC issued after pre-shipment verification. Confirm current requirements with your clearing agent and tell us at the RFQ stage so inspection can be arranged before loading.

Will parts fit American-specification vehicles imported into Iraq?

Not always. North American versions can use different engines, brakes and electrical parts than Asian or GCC versions. Provide the VIN or OEM number for each line so fitment can be checked.

Can you ship to northern Iraq or the Kurdistan Region?

We can quote FOB Thailand or CFR/CIF to a port selected by your forwarder, who can arrange onward overland transport. Confirm any Kurdistan Region-specific import procedures with your clearing agent.
